In the semi-arid area the lack of permanent water sources is a problem the Samburu have to confront every day. The population of Lulu decided to settle down and abandon their nomad traditions in order to have a more dignified life.
The West Pokot district is situated in the Rift Valley in Kenya, the capital being Kapenguria. It has a population of about 300.000 in an area of 9064 km2. The inhabitants are called pokots
The whole Lulu community, belonging to a Samburu tribe, will profit since one way or another they will receive the benefits, the training and the fruits that will be produced in the greenhouses.

In Lodungokwe there is a water problem. There is no drinking water, the little water they get, pumped from a well some five kilometres away, is salty and is undrinkable and it even cannot be used to water the plants.
The primary schools of Mwele and Barsaloi, a few kilometres away from Malindi (Kenyan coast) were in a very bad state when we visited for the first time, now 5 years ago.
